By nature, Duke Special (aka Belfast's Peter Wilson) is a curious person. He is curious about music, theatre, books, poetry, art, love, life, redemption, death and 78RPM records. All of this is evidenced by the variety of musical adventures throughout his career, such asreleasing 17 albums and EPs, touring extensively throughout the world, writing for theatre, and teaching songwriting and performance at BIMM University, Dublin. Performing live is still one of Duke Special's main passions. Whether he performs solo, as a duo with his long-time friend and percussionist Chip Bailey, with a full band, a string quartet or orchestra, a Duke Special show is always a unique experience. Please arrive early before event door times if you have preferred seats. Due to the nature of our venue, please be prepared to queue for entry. The venue is fully accessible, with use of ramps and the upstairs bar is accessible with use of a platform lift. Please email [email protected] with your accessibility requirements as soon as you purchase your ticket as requests are dealt with on a first come, first serve basis. The bar is located on the first floor of the venue and will be open from the stated door time and remain open after the show. Alcohol consumption will be limited to the bar area only, it is not permitted to take alcohol to the main chapel space. An array of soft drinks and snacks will also be available and are permitted in the main space - please note the Union Chapel bar and kiosk accept card payment only. Strictly no food or drink may be brought from outside into the venue. Water bottles must be emptied before entering the venue, with refilling stations available inside. Jean-Michel Blais: Mirador Book Now Home / Events / Jean-Michel Blais: Mirador Jean-Michel Blais was ready to make an epic. mirador , the pianist-composer’s fourth album, finds the Montrealer turning his gaze onto a wondrous world—exchanging contemporary minimalism for a light and generous maximalism . It’s an odyssey that spans choirs, strings and the music of the Andes, from Spanish caves to Estonian forests and all the way back to the basement in Nicolet, Québec, where Blais first imagined adventures. After 375 million streams and the biggest concerts of his life, the origins of mirador were remembrances from childhood. As a musical kid—and, even if he wasn’t fully aware of these things yet, as a queer person, with Tourette’s—Blais’ basement was his imaginary lookout, his “mirador,” from which he could dream the world. There, he’d browse in wonder through a Larousse encyclopaedia; he’d play with the family’s cheap Hammond organ and endlessly replay the same cassettes. On mirador , Jean-Michel Blais offers a path back to childhood—cut a crown from a piece of paper and suddenly you have a kingdom. Alongside an extensive performing career, she is a composer, educator, and creator of interdisciplinary projects that blend jazz, folk, classical music, and contemporary influences. Muse Quartet is one of Romania’s best-known string quartets, celebrated for its versatility and contemporary approach to chamber music. The ensemble has collaborated with artists from jazz, pop, alternative, and classical genres and has performed at major cultural events, festivals, and concert halls throughout the country. The quartet consists of Alina Horez (violin I), Nicoleta Petre (violin II), Maria Colta?u (viola), and Alexandra Pascaru (cello).
