FOLK AND ROOTS PRESENTS - CLAIRE WATTS: Claire is a multi‑instrumental Irish traditional musician, singer‑songwriter and award‑winning composer from Galway, now based in West Clare. She has four studio albums and a PhD in Arts Practice. Her current project, ‘Bean in a Van’, takes her across Ireland writing a song for each county and shaping a new album of place‑based music, with a new single imminent. Press – “Irish folk singer Claire Watts has a knack for writing love songs that sound as old as the hills. The title track from her new album Landmark is a gentle heartfelt tribute to the love of her life, the man who is her ‘North Star’ and ‘compass of my heart.’ Add a bright acoustic guitar and the backing vocals of husband Gerry Hegarty as part of the equation and the result is a song that will be appreciated by fans of Sandy Denny.” Hans Werksman HCTF Blog “Claire Watts is a lovely singer with a clear, honest and beautiful voice.
