Spike Island is Bristol's international centre for production and exhibition of contemporary art, in an 80,000 sq ft former industrial building combining public exhibitions with around 70 subsidised artist studios and its own print studio. Its working-studio character alongside its gallery programme suits visitors curious about how contemporary art gets made, not only shown.
