www.filmhouse.org.uk/ →Filmhouse has occupied a former church at 88 Lothian Road since 1978 and has been the long-term home of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the longest continually-running film festival in the world; it closed in October 2022 when its parent charity collapsed and reopened in June 2025 after a community-backed campaign and a £2 million refurbishment. Its four screens run arthouse, foreign-language, documentary and repertory film alongside mainstream releases and regular director and critic Q&As, and it particularly suits anyone who assumed the cinema never came back.
