glasgowfilm.org/ →Glasgow Film Theatre opened in 1939 as the Cosmo, Britain's first purpose-built arthouse cinema outside London, and has operated continuously on Rose Street since 1974 under its current name — making it the oldest working cinema in the city. Its programme runs arthouse, foreign-language, documentary and classic film alongside regular director and critic Q&As, and it hosts Glasgow Film Festival each year, suiting anyone who wants repertory and international cinema rather than first-run multiplex releases.
