Chelsea Physic Garden is the oldest botanic garden in London, founded in 1673 by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London so its apprentices could study medicinal plants. Now an independent charity on Royal Hospital Road, it holds living collections spanning medicinal, herbal and useful plants from around the world, including glasshouses and a dedicated pharmaceutical garden. Beyond the plant collections, its programme runs from guided tours and talks to family workshops, wellness sessions and summer evenings of live music — a garden as comfortable hosting a botany lecture as a supper club.
