Join Fruity Walks for a storytelling walk through Chelsea Physic Garden, seeking out the fruit trees growing among its beds and borders, as well as the folklore, journeys and human stories carried in the fruits they bear. Part of the Garden’s Folklore Re Rooted theme, this walk focuses on the Garden’s fruit trees to unpick the myths, rituals and “old wives” tales rooted in each one. We will trace how these fruits first travelled to Britain, carried across seas and centuries through trade, migration and exchange. Through tree identification, mindfulness and storytelling, we’ll explore how the fruits we now take for granted arrived from far away, and how tending green spaces remains an act of collective care that makes our city feel like home for millions of people from all over the world. Led by Divya Hariramani Herrero, urban fruit tree forager and founder of Fruity Walks , this walk invites you to listen, learn and reimagine our relationship with London’s fruit trees we live alongside, one story at a time. Fruity Walks is a London project finding, mapping and sharing the city’s unusual fruit trees, and the stories behind them. Through guided walks, Instagram ,neighbourhood maps and community orchards, it helps Londoners discover the edible green spaces and cultural connections woven through their city.
