About this event

The GoMA Youth Group (GYG) is a group of 18-26’s who meet at the gallery once a week for a year to develop professional skills in arts industries, to meet artists and arts workers, and to get creative together. As part of our time this year some GYG members developed and facilitated a programme of free workshops for young people, families, and members of the public. Some of the outcomes from these workshops can be found throughout the space. Free workshops like these can be a great way to meet new people and make art without pressure. Even among friends, sharing skills and being creative can help to develop a sense of community and wellbeing. Whilst creating this exhibition we thought about community, togetherness, identity, and our own connections to Glasgow. As you move through the space we ask you to reflect on your relationship to the city, a place that so many of us call home. The exhibition title name comes from the first thing said to CT, one of the group members, by a taxi driver on his arrival to Glasgow. It is a commonly heard and comforting phrase.
