Set in a rural Burkinabé village, Ouédraogo’s drama follows young cousins Bilal and Nopoko as they befriend Sana, an elderly woman shunned by her community as a witch. Through their unlikely friendship, Yaaba becomes a moving parable about compassion, prejudice and the bonds that transcend generations. Beautifully observed and deeply humane, it is a tender celebration of empathy. Restored by thelmafilm. The screening of Yaaba on Wednesday 4 November will be introduced by Awa Konaté, Founder of Culture Art Society.
