Since 2022, Jean Tonique and Mi Man have been creating, under the name Tonique & Man, a groovy and luminous pop sound that blends analog synths, polished vocal harmonies, and warm arrangements. The duo has made a name for itself through a precise balance: immediate melodies that never need to force their way to the forefront. Following *Opening Soon*, their debut album released in 2023 and built around a very distinct pop sound, Tonique & Man return with *Where We’re At*, their second album, recorded in part at Studio Ferber in Paris. The groove and the sense of songwriting remain intact, but the perspective shifts: the album refocuses on the essentials—two musicians and more authentic songs—with a desire to present a more nuanced take on pop. The production gains warmth and depth, with airier arrangements and vocals brought more to the forefront. The album retains the duo’s DNA—that blend of soft disco, modern pop, and French elegance—while taking it toward something more mature and self-assured. This maturity is evident in both the songwriting and the performance. The tracks retain their impact and lightness, yet reveal more intimate moments, as if the duo were willing to let something more personal shine through. Without becoming introspective in the strict sense, *Where We’re At* reflects a different phase in the lives of Jean Tonique and Mi Man—one marked by greater perspective, more nuance, and a more serene approach.
