Marlon Riggs · 55m · Film

About this event

Riggs’ groundbreaking essay film blends poetry, documentary, performance and personal testimony to explore the experiences of Black gay men in America. Confronting homophobia, racism and the devastating impact of the AIDS crisis (which the filmmaker died from five years after the film was released), it is both a polemic and a celebration of identity, resilience and community. Bold, lyrical and deeply influential, Riggs’ landmark film continues to resonate. Contains racist and homophobic language and depictions of racism, racist imagery and homophobia.
