Todd Rundgren performs at Cadogan Hall on his Damned If I Do tour, promising a night packed with fan favourites. As he puts it himself: “It’s always a challenge for me because my audience is so diverse, I never know what they’re in the mood for. I want to make sure we have all the musical ammunition we need to satisfy the spectrum.” A mercurial performer, writer, producer and technological trailblazer, Rundgren has spent more than five decades redefining what an artist can be. His innovations span broadcast, graphics, video, VR, online music and interactive media – a catalogue of genuine firsts. After founding and fronting The Nazz, Rundgren launched a solo career that quickly became the stuff of legend. Runt arrived in 1970, but it was 1972’s landmark Something/Anything? – written, performed and produced entirely by Rundgren – that propelled him into the spotlight. Seminal albums followed, including The Hermit of Mink Hollow and A Wizard, A True Star , alongside hit singles such as ‘I Saw The Light’ , ‘Hello It’s Me’ , ‘Can We Still Be Friends’ , and ‘Bang The Drum’ . In 1974, he formed Todd Rundgren’s Utopia (later Utopia), pioneering a new, interactive approach to musicianship and embarking on an intensive period of touring and recording. Todd Rundgren’s myriad production projects include albums by Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, Psychedelic Furs, Meat Loaf, XTC, Grand Funk Railroad, and Hall and Oates. Since 1989, he has also toured with the Ringo Starr All-Starr Band and composed for film, television and Broadway. Rundgren has done it all, and in his own unique way – there is a reason that his autobiography is called The Individualist . He continues to do what he does best, and this rare London date offers fans the chance to celebrate that fact and reconnect on the Damned If I Do tour.
