Lette has everything: a successful career, a loving wife, and a brilliant invention. Then he discovers the one thing nobody dared tell him — he’s hideous. A radical operation to “resculpture the entire facial area” leads to consequences far beyond what he, or anyone else, could possibly imagine. Following the acclaimed run of An Ideal Husband , Broken Nose Theatre presents Marius von Mayenburg’s iconic black comedy The Ugly One , directed by Ramin Gray. Twenty years after premiering The Ugly One at the Royal Court, Gray returns to Mayenburg’s play in a world that has fulfilled its prophecy. A razor-sharp satire about beauty, identity and self-love.
