A guided walk of 'Swedenborg's London' from Swedenborg Gardens in Wapping to St Paul's Cathedral. Swedenborg’s London Guided Walk: Swedenborg Gardens to St Paul’s 26 September 2026 2.30-4.30 p.m. Led by James Wilson and Mark Riley Meeting at Swedenborg Gardens, E1W 2BE Finishing at St Paul’s Cathedral, EC4M 8AD Distance: approx. 4 km On Saturday 26 September there will be the chance to join a small group for a guided walk of ‘Swedenborg’s London’. It is intended for this to be the first in what will become a regular series of guided walks offered to Friends, Members and mailing list subscribers, giving insights into the city’s connections to Swedenborg, the history of Swedenborgianism, and to his early readers, such as William Blake. Starting at Swedenborg Gardens (assembling at the memorial font to the Swedish Church), where Swedenborg’s mortal remains formerly lay at rest, the walk will weave its way westwards, visiting several sites connected to Swedenborg, including Wellclose Square, the former site of Gresham College, and the Monument. The walk finishes at St Paul’s Cathedral, which Swedenborg visited as a young tourist on his first trip to London in 1710, and where he would continue, in later life, to come to see his printers on the adjacent Paternoster Row. The walk will be led by James Wilson, editor and former librarian of the Swedenborg Society and Mark Riley, artist, writer and a trustee of the Swedenborg Society.
