About this event
The excellent singer Sarah L King brings her great band to the Club this afternoon. Citing Karen Carpenter and Roberta Flack as early influences, her unique phrasing and her ability to imbue an emotional depth to lyrics have brought her significant praise by those who know. Including select original songs from her critically acclaimed album “Fire Horse” and her latest, 2026 record “The Light Ahead” (both produced by Claire Martin), Sarah will also be sharing some of her favourite standards alongside some soulful tunes. With Jim Watson -piano, Laurence Cottle -bass and Jamie Murray -drums. "The heartfelt, confessional ‘Born Yesterday’ lingers long in the memory" **** Jazzwise; "King has a most endearing vocal presence, and a wonderful way of phrasing" Jazz Views; "Pure toned new to us singer-songwriter Sarah L King is brilliant" **** Marlbank Jazz Photo by Amit Lennon
