About this event

It's easy to see why visceral visionary David Cronenberg was attracted to this remake - it neatly reflected his pet obsessions with disease, deformity, and our uneasy relationship with our bodies and their fleshy existence. Scientist Seth Brundle meets science journalist Veronica “Ronnie” Quaife at an industry function and invites her back to his laboratory. He shows her the experiment he is working on, the transportation of objects over distance using “telepods”. Seth believes this will also work for living creatures, and asks Ronnie to document his work. The two start a romantic relationship, but one night they have a row, Seth gets drunk… and a disastrous accident happens. Darkly comic, unexpectedly poignant and repulsively entertaining (the special effects by Chris Walas are still staggering today, almost 30 years on), The Fly is a perfect combination of sci fi, romance, and gory midnight movie. Be afraid, be very afraid... All our screenings are 18+ The film will begin at the advertised time above. Content Warnings: features severe violence and gore, intense bodily decay, and disturbing psychological themes. Runtime: 96 minutes Director: David Cronenberg Country: U.S.A Year: 1986 Film
