About this event
PROGRAMME Performance | Amman 2024 Friday 25 Sep, 7pm For this special performance as part of the programme songs these jaws cannot hold, Intibint will perform a live and electronic set with Kareem Samara on oud. The set will combine covers of revolutionary Arab songs, merged with field recordings from Yemen recorded in collaboration with filmmaker Albaraa Mansour , as well as field recordings by Intibint recorded in Jordan during the first family reunion of her family since the Yemen war began in 2015. Combining music with personal recordings and revolutionary songs, the set is rooted in nostalgia, calling for homecoming and imagining resistance, and does so in community. BIO: Intibint is the moniker of UK-based Yemeni producer, singer-songwriter, visual artist, and DJ Noha. Born in London and raised between the UK and Yemen, Intibint makes music that moves between the personal and the collective, combining emotional directness with political resonance. Rooted in electronic production, her sound crosses downtempo, alt-R&B and hip-hop while drawing on Yemeni musical traditions. Her live performances bring together vocals, field recordings, original productions and reworked traditional and revolutionary Arabic songs from Yemen, Palestine and Sudan. Her musical palette reflects an upbringing between classical Arabic and traditional Yemeni music at home, and UK underground sounds such as grime and DnB. As a DJ, she carries that same open approach into genre-fluid sets spanning Arabic music, electronic, dancehall, grime, dubstep and beyond. Across sound, visuals and performance; including her work as founder of @al.yamaniah — Intibint’s practice is rooted in resistance and reclamation. Image: Courtesy of the artist.
