About this event

Capella Edina and the One City Trust invite you to a special free-to-attend concert that explores the many musical faces of Scotland as they take you on a journey from Malcolm Arnold’s Four Scottish Dances and Max Richter’s score for the film Mary Queen of Scots to James MacMillan’s reflective Larghetto for Orchestra. Rising-star violinist Andrea Cicalese will join the orchestra for Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy, the evening’s radiant centrepiece, which draws richly on Scottish traditional music. A special Scottish Act with Pipes and Drums celebrates community and shared heritage in stirring style. Let's come together and experience great orchestral music united as one city! The One City Trust (SC034165) welcomes cash donations after the concert in support of its work to combat inequality across Edinburgh. Programme: Malcolm Arnold: Four Scottish Dances, op. 59 (10') James MacMillan: Larghetto for Orchestra (15') Various [arr. Collis]: Scottish Act (15') - Interval - Max Richter: Music from "Mary Queen of Scots" (10') Max Bruch: Scottish Fantasy, op. 46 (35') Andrea Cicalese Violin Luis Schmidt Director of Music Capella Edina Sign up directly with Capella Edina to get emails delivered straight to your inbox: https://capella-edina.com/#newsletter
