This year marks the bicentenary of the death of Stamford Raffles, of the London Zoo. Although Raffles\'s reputation rests largely on his abilities as an administrator, he was a man of very broad scientific interests-a botanist and a zoologist, he was also the first elected president of The Zoological Society. He is buried in Hendon....
