At this very special event, Robin returns to Toulouse Lautrec, for a performance dedicated to the late great Tony Bennett, shortly after what would have been his 100 th birthday! Tony Bennett found fame as a popular and swing singer, before leaning more into jazz and smaller ensembles as the big band era fell silent. But rather than hinder his art, the smaller ensemble suited Tony perfectly as he could express his incredible vocal control and intimate delivery of songs. Nothing displays this better than the two incredible albums he recorded with legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans. Tony Bennett has recorded almost every song in The Great American Songbook over his long and varied career, and worked with artists one or two generations below him, staying relevant due to the high esteem with which all singers hold him. Choosing the repertoire for this event will not be easy, but our guests can be assured to hear many of the classic songs that they think of when they think of the name Tony Bennett, along with others picked out by the musicians that have special meaning for them from his huge repertoire. Both Robin and Tony are great lovers of the lost verses of the standards, so you will also here some introductions to classic songs, that you might not have heard before.
