The combination of flute, viola and harp was not first imagined by Debussy, but his colourful, playful Sonata of 1915 (a staple for the ensemble) did make it a more popular trio. Bax’s reflective Elegiac Trio dates from around the same time, while an arrangement of Ravel’s Sonatine for piano is another shining demonstration of this grouping’s unique sound. Enjoy a pre-concert lunch, served in the stunning surroundings of Kirklees’ historic town halls, before every chamber concert.
