Promises of the Storm, 50 Years Later

About this event
When Lebanese oud player, singer, and composer Marcel Khalifé first set the words of the great Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish to music in his 1976 album Promises of the Storm , it was the prelude to a deep and enduring friendship between the two men which would develop a few years later – as the songs themselves resonated across the globe. To mark the fiftieth anniversary of this iconic album, Marcel has re-recorded the work as a solo project stripped down to its purest essence: his magnificently seasoned tenor voice accompanied by his most faithful companion, the oud. Ibraaz welcomes Marcel Khalifé to host a listening session of his new album ahead of its release. Marcel will answer questions before and after the listening session, and copies of the record will be on sale during the event. Doors open at 6.30pm; event starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm.
