Live from Western Australia. From travelling the country while writing Cloudstreet to paddling out to sea among dugongs and watching bushfires consume his neighbourhood, Winton's new book is angry, tender, funny and filled with love for the beautiful, brutal Australian landscape. Appearing live from Western Australia, one of the country's greatest writers reflects on friendship, fatherhood, ageing and what we owe the generations coming after us. Moving from memories of his own childhood to fears for his grandchildren's future, Winton asks how we hold on to hope, joy, and solidarity in a world under threat. Tim Winton is the four-time winner of Australia’s Miles Franklin Award and was twice shortlisted forthe Booker Prize. His books include Cloudstreet , Dirt Music , Breath and The Riders , and his work has been translated and celebrated around the world. An acclaimed environmental advocate as well as a novelist, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2023. He lives in Western Australia. Songs from the Firefront will be published by Picador in November 2026, 35 years after the publication of Cloudstreet. This event runs from 11:30am - 12pm, followed by a 15-minute audience Q&A.
