Laura Elizabeth Woollett and Lucia Osborne-Crowley in conversation with author and journalist Molly Flatt Laura Elizabeth Woollett was at work, meticulously planning her death. Then her period arrived - and she felt like herself again. Lucia Osborne-Crowley sat through every day of Ghislaine Maxwell's explosive trial, listening as survivors confronted a justice system unequipped to understand trauma. Together, these two fearless writers explore what happens when the body knows something that medicine, law and society refuse to hear. Expect a gripping conversation about PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), sexual violence, true crime, testimony - and who gets believed. Combining lived experience with forensic research, they ask why women are still required to prove their own pain, what institutions fail to understand about trauma and whether writing can restore agency to people whose stories have been dismissed, doubted or distorted. Laura Elizabeth Woollett is an author and critic based in Naarm/Melbourne. Her books include The Love of a Bad Man , Beautiful Revolutionary , The Newcomer and West Girls , and her work has been shortlisted for the Stella Prize and the Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Fiction. Her non-fiction debut, Hell Days , is a fiercely personal investigation of hormonal mood disorder, bringing together memoir, medical research, case studies, history and true crime. Lucia Osborne-Crowley is a trained lawyer, legal reporter and award-winning author of I Choose Elena , the Somerset Maugham Award-winning My Body Keeps Your Secrets and The Lasting Harm , which was shortlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize, the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award and the Ned Kelly Award for Best True Crime. An investigative reporter and feature writer for The Nerve , her forensic, trauma-informed journalism has also appeared in the Guardian , The Sunday Times , the Independent and GQ .
