A rare encounter with one of the world's most original and visionary writers Alexis Wright, in conversation with her editor Tara Tobler. Alexis Wright takes us inside the extraordinary imagination behind Praiseworthy , Tracker and Carpentaria - three books that have transformed the possibilities within fiction, biography and collaborative storytelling. Appearing live from Melbourne, Wright explores the wild, exhilarating world of Praiseworthy and the many-voiced oral history of Tracker . She will discuss Country, sovereignty, climate, character, humour and how she found the creative freedom to write books of breathtaking scale and ambition. From a fictional town besieged by a haze of yellow dust to the life of visionary Aboriginal leader Tracker Tilmouth, Wright’s work combines epic storytelling with irreverence, fury and dazzling linguistic invention. This is a unique opportunity to hear one of Australia’s greatest living writers discuss a body of work that refuses every convention. Alexis Wright is a member of the Waanyi nation of the southern highlands of the Gulf of Carpentaria and one of Australia’s most acclaimed and original writers. In 2024, Praiseworthy made Wright the first author to win the Miles Franklin Award and the Stella Prize in the same year, while Tracker was longlisted for the 2025 Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction. Tara Tobler is a writer, critic and Wright's UK editor at And Other Stories, publisher of Praiseworthy and Tracker .
