Denmark’s NOVO Quartet, founded in 2018, won international plaudits by taking top prizes at the Geneva, Heidelberg, Carl Nielsen and Trondheim competitions. It joined the latest crop of BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists in 2025 and confirmed its status among the top rank of young ensembles with a superb debut recording of works by Shostakovich, Matias Vestergård and Nielsen. ‘The Novo have already made their mark in Scandinavia’, noted Gramophone . ‘Judging from this album, it won’t be long before they are doing the same in the rest of Europe and beyond.’
