About this event

Doors 6:45 PM, Music 7:15 PM - 1 set of music   Line-up: Noah Ojumu - Drums Sonny Caplan-Higgs - Alto Saxophone Olivia Hughes - trombone Tom Sheen - Double bass   About: Noah Ojumu is a London-based jazz drummer and composer whose quintet is defined by rhythmic melodies and dynamic interplay. For this gig, he's written a brand-new set of music composed specifically with these musicians in mind. His compositions draw on the groove-oriented music he grew up with, merged with a later passion for jazz and the avant-garde, resulting in a vibrant, exploratory sound. Alongside his own project, he has performed with various ensembles, including Koller/Kofi/Gourlay/Ojumu Plays Monk, Mark Kavuma Quartet, and Nu Civilisation Orchestra. Noah’s compositional and improvisational approach has been particularly influenced by the mentorship of Tom Challenger, playing in Challenger’s Brass Mask and Build a Band.
