About this event
Simultaneously a collaborative expansion and distillation, Nik Colk Void, Theodora Laird, and Ute Kanngießer mark their debut performance as a trio, building upon their work together in various duo and ensemble formations during recent years, entwining distinct sonic material — modular synthesis, voice, and strings — cultivated within the refined, highly individual practices of each of these celebrated artists. Collectively representing a diversity of trajectories within the fields of experimental and improvised music, in their past encounters — Void and Kanngießer in numerous duo performances, Kanngießer and Laird at various Grain residencies, and all three within a quintet with Kenichi Iwasa and Steve Noble at Cafe OTO last year — revealed creative resonances and shared sensibilities for an emergent music with collaboration at its heart.
