About this event
A timid, mute seamstress is attacked and raped twice in one day. Traumatized by the assaults, she kills her second attacker, takes his handgun, and begins roaming the streets of New York after dark, randomly shooting men with a .45 caliber pistol. Set against the grime of early 1980s Manhattan, the film gradually shifts from exploitation thriller to a bleak portrait of trauma, alienation, and urban violence. Its uncompromising tone and Zoë Lund's remarkable central performance have made it one of the defining films of the rape-revenge cycle.
