About this event
Describing their music as “a sonic tapestry, woven through energetic groove & threads of intricately crafted melody” Malika Collective is a dynamic London-based ensemble inspired by genres from blues to rock, Afrobeat, soul, electronic and dance music. Led by George Risk -guitar and featuring George Garford- sax/flute; Henry Lawry -keys; Nee Mantse -bass, Salim Akki -drums and Samuel Owusu -percussion the band blends timeless elements of jazz improvisation with the electric sounds of synths & effects for a distinctive & hip mashup of old and new. They have released a number of singles, including “Risky Bizz”, “Dwell”, “Insight” & their latest, "Tide", performing at venues such as Hootananny Brixton, The Royal Albert Deptford, the Crypt in Camberwell and Pizza Express. Malika Collective's music adeptly captures the feel and energy of the current London scene.
