LAURENCE CORNS IS A SINGER-GUITARIST PLAYING SWING JAZZ INFLUENCED BY THE LIKES OF FATS WALLER, BILLIE HOLIDAY, NAT KING COLE AND BESSIE SMITH. LAURENCE STUDIED ETHNOMUSICOLOGY AT LONDON'S SCHOOL OF ORIENTAL AND AFRICAN STUDIES. HE LEARNT ABOUT JAZZ BY PLAYING WITH THE CULT SWING JAZZ BAND 'THE LOST AND WANDERING BLUES AND JAZZ BAND'. HE HAS PERFORMED EVERYWHERE FROM THE STREETS OF PARIS TO SMALL RURAL VILLAGES IN NORTHERN ZIMBABWE AND HIS BLEND OF BLUES, SWING AND AFRICAN MUSIC IS UNIQUE TO THE LONDON JAZZ SCENE.
