About this event
This event has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Narration, movement and live-scored music create an unrepeatable moment, connecting Bantu and African diaspora stories with contemporary sounds and voices. Bantutronic bring their visionary practice to the stage in a live reimagining of their short film Finding 15, which explores what it takes to pursue and achieve a dream, and what it takes to build a village around you. Bantutronic – the creative partnership of poet, artist and filmmaker Julianknxx and musician and composer THABO – connects the stories and languages of the Bantu and wider African diaspora with the contemporary, looking 500 years into the past and imagining 500 years into the future. For this special Creative Intelligence performance, that imagined future leaves the screen and enters the room. Directed by Julianknxx, THABO guides a journey into the world of Bantutronic philosophy, accompanied by a live composition from pianist Aron Kyne. What began as a film becomes something present and unrepeatable: a score assembled in real time, a story told once, in this room, on this night. The result is a meeting of ancestral voice and contemporary technology, of poetry and live composition – an artistic expression made to resonate not just today and tomorrow, but 500 years from now. True to Bantutronic’s method, the performance leaves room for a third collaborator: you. Bantutronic invites you to assemble and assimilate the work into your own lives, long after you leave the room. Creative Intelligence is commissioned and produced by the Southbank Centre. Curated with PACT – Planetary Art Culture Technology.
