Jackson Mathod is a trumpet player and singer who, over the last 15 years or so, has established his reputation as a highly creative, multifaceted musician who successfully embraces a host of different genres. With influences ranging from Miles Davis to Dub and Hip Hop he includes work with artist as diverse as UK jazz great Julian Joseph to performing with Stormzy at Glastonbury. His 2021 album ‘Travels in a Confined Space’, which he described as having a simple and universal message “have fun, move, and enjoy”, was featured by the likes of BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Jazz FM & Jamie Cullum. Tonight, along with his band Leif Maine -guitar, Daniele Gulino -bass and Jack Robson- drums he will be featuring, amongst many other groove laden originals, material from his new record “Mirage” which he describes as “a guitar-driven departure from his previous work”, exploring “the age of information and illusion through a psychedelic lens, drawing on influences from Jimi Hendrix to Jeff Buckley, trip-hop and beyond.” Lauded by the likes of Jamz Supernova, Mary Anne Hobbs and Jordan Rakei, Jackson’s shows are both exuberant and captivating. “Mathod …compelling…talented…masterful” Vibe Rating; “Jackson’s… ability to convey truth in his solos is a tonic and his potential as an artist excites me” Julian Joseph; "Unstoppable" Jazzwise
