About this event

What happens when a home becomes a work of art in its own right? Maison Colbert is the East London home of artists Philip Colbert and Charlotte Colbert, a place where domestic life, architecture, art and design come together in unexpected ways. This special tour offers the chance to step inside a private home that is also an evolving creative world. Created from a row of Victorian terraces, Maison Colbert has been transformed in collaboration with designer Angus Buchanan and Chris Dyson Architects. Behind the familiar London façade, the house unfolds through a sequence of dramatically different spaces, from soaring, light-filled salons to intimate bedrooms filled with colour and character. Throughout the house, the Colberts’ own work sits alongside pieces from their wider art collection, as well as sculptures, furniture and objects that blur the boundaries between artwork, decoration and everyday use. The result is neither simply a gallery nor simply a home, but something more playful and personal. This private tour will explore how the original Victorian buildings have been reworked to create a contemporary family home and creative environment. Attendees will experience the contrasting spaces of the house, see works from the Colberts’ collection and explore how architecture, interiors and art can combine to shape the experience of domestic life. Join us for a rare opportunity to visit one of East London’s most distinctive private homes and explore a very personal approach to living with art, architecture and design. Members only booking until 9th September. To become a member – explore our membership options.
