The writer-director behind Sorry to Bother You (LFF 2018) is back with another idiosyncratic, anti-capitalist vision, featuring an all-star cast that includes Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, LaKeith Stanfield and Demi Moore. Corvette is an aspiring fashion designer and leader of The Velvet Gang, a group of ‘boosters’ who rob clothes from fashion entrepreneur Christie Smith’s boutiques. But when Smith steals one of Corvette’s designs, The Velvet Gang are pushed to the next level. Boots Riley’s film is a wild fashion fever dream and a rally cry against the system.
