About this event

“Govend” is the umbrella name of Kurdish dances – taking the form of the circle dance, usually in a line with dancers holding hands. They are mixed-gender, group dances danced at festivals, birthdays, New Year, Newroz, demonstrations, marriages and other ceremonies. There will be workshop at 7.30pm, followed by social dancing! Govend London is a community dance group that aims to connect people from diverse backgrounds and experiences through a cross-cultural exchange of Kurdish dance and music. They create inclusive, friendly, non-judgemental social spaces where people from complete beginners to the more advanced, come together to learn, exchange, and dance. Jamboree food option : Our ‘Zer’ kitchen is open from 5pm serving delicious Middle Eastern fusion food for you to enjoy a meal/snack if you wish! Find the menu HERE ! JAMBOREE IN ACTION!
