About this event
An anthropologist Dr Hess Green is stabbed with an ancient dagger and develops an insatiable bloodlust. He is soon joined by his wife. Gunn’s film reimagines the vampire genre through a radical Black lens, blending horror, spirituality and social commentary into a dreamlike meditation on race, desire, faith and identity. It’s a singular masterpiece of 1970s American cinema. Contains scenes of graphic violence or injury. The screening of Ganja and Hess on Tuesday 24 November will be introduced by Gabriel Leavey, film curator, presenter and BFI Studio Coordinator.
