About this event
The film projection box is only accessible by stairs. Please contact [email protected] if you have any queries regarding accessibility. This event is part of Doors Open Days, Scotland’s largest free festival that celebrates places and stories, new and old. Tickets are limited to 5 per transaction. As part of Doors Open Days, we will be offering free tours of our film projection facilities! A four screen independent cinema capable of screening 70mm, 35mm, 16mm, Digital 4K and a variety of other formats, we have one of the most varied and eclectic film programmes anywhere in Britain, screening independent new releases, retrospectives, one off Q&A events, and education programmes, as well as hosting several dozen film festivals every year, including the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Staffed by a technical team who deliver world class standards of film presentation, this is a unique opportunity to see how real film projection works, taking you backstage and into the projection booth to discover the magic of projecting film on film, and how the cinema experience gets brought to life. Doors Open Days is coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust and is part of European Heritage Days alongside Scottish Archaeology Month, coordinated by Archaeology Scotland. Both are supported by Historic Environment Scotland. Photo credit: Kat Gollock

This venue’s world
This venue sits in the collection, not this one title.
Traditions this room works in
Tags on the venue. Other Edinburgh rooms carry the same lineage. Not a claim that this film invented the tradition.
Also playing this week
Same kind of night (cinema) in Edinburgh. Next dates first, not a ranking.
