An open singaround for everyone to share and enjoy traditional folk songs. Hosted by Lileth Chinn. ‘Songs on the Water’ is a free event open to everyone to share and enjoy traditional folk songs. The evening is an ode to the oral tradition of sharing stories and histories - the reflection, sorrow and laughter brought to life through shanties, ballads, chorus’, protest song and more. Hosted on boards the Theatreship in the heart of the dock lands, the evening will be conducted in a familiar singaround-style. Everyone is invited to share a song, but you do not have to sing to attend! You may want to join in with a chorus, or just sit quietly and enjoy. There are no explicit parameters on what a ‘traditional folk song’ is, and folks songs from all traditions are very welcome! Instruments and tune are more than welcome, however this is primarily a singers evening. Recommended age rating: 12+ The venue opens at 4pm for drinks in the bar.
