Local film critic and podcaster Matthew Turner returns for a third mini season of film noir classics, which will run exclusively at Chiswick Cinema throughout November 2026. "Former crooner Dick Powell stars as hard-boiled private eye Philip Marlowe, who's drawn into a web of crime and corruption when he's hired to locate Velma (Claire Trevor), the former girlfriend of hulking ex-con Moose Malloy (Mike Mazurki). Adapted from the classic detective novel by Raymond Chandler and released the same year as Double Indemnity, this is considered one of the pinnacles of film noir and a key influence on the genre." Synopsis: After being hired to find an ex-con's former girlfriend, Philip Marlowe is drawn into a deeply complex web of mystery and deceit.
