It was a vital artery for transporting the ‘white gold’ upon which the wealth of the region depended. The music of these two towns is celebrated here in an evocative fusion of music and poetry, of journeys real and imagined, physical and spiritual. The programme brings together an eclectic combination of works from composers including Johann Sommer, JS Bach, Nathanael Schnittelbach, William Brade, and Heinrich Schütz, along with a new commission from organist Silas Wollston: performed by leading period instrument ensemble, In Echo, with readings from writer and broadcaster, Horatio Clare. Programme includes: Bach Mit fried und freud ich fahr dahin Isaac Innsbruck, ich muss dich lassen Lutkeman Fantasia on ‘Innsbruck, ich muss dich lassen’ Bach Fantasie and Fugue in A minor, BWV 904 Buxtehude Chiaconne in E minor Sommer Chanson a5 for four violins Silas Wollston White Gold ***** Box Office To book tickets please visit University of Birmingham Box Office Or call: 0121 414 4414 (Mon to Fri 10am-12pm) £22.50, £16.50 Barber Association, £11.50 Concessions, £6 Student/U18/ University Staff (prices listed include booking fee) Barber Evening Concert ticket discount Discount available when booking multiple concerts: 2 concerts = 10% off 3 concerts = 15% off 4 concerts = 20% off 5 or above = 30% off Access Information The Elgar Concert Hall is located in The Bramall Music Building.
