About this event
Denny Ilett is a versatile guitarist/singer who has worked with the likes of US stars Lillian Boutte & PeeWee Ellis as well as members of Goldfrapp, Portishead & Mannfred Mann. Saxophonist/singer Pete Long is a renowned jazz musician, who’s CV includes work with Jools Holland, Tom Jones and Lionel Richie. Tonight these two master musicians join forces with this unique band. Over to them: “It’s the late 1940’s - the bebop revolution led by Charlie Parker is in full swing. At the same time, a proto-rock n roll known as Rhythm & Blues was developing with artists such as T-Bone Walker and Louis Jordan. Put these two together and you have R&Bebop, an exciting and innovative moment in melodic and rhythmic time”. Denny & Pete have unearthed a treasure-trove of captivating rhythms and intoxicating melodies guaranteed to be both exciting and fun! “Ilett…a knockout guitarist, soulful and jazz-tinged” Guitarist Magazine; “[the band]…played with all the panache, drive and sheer good-hearted energy that Long seems to engender” Jazzwise Photo of Denny Ilett by Robert Crowley
