About this event
Beautiful Thing is one of the sweetest of all gay films, telling the story of troubled teen boys - Jamie (Glen Berry) who is picked on at school and Ste (Scott Neal) who is bullied at home – who find love in each other’s arms. Told against a suburban London estate backdrop, it’s packed with wit, with a sparky script based on the stage play by Jonathan Harvey. Enva Lewis on why she chose Beautiful Thing - ‘Some films get made and never really get spoken about. This is one of them. It paints a picture of what growing up on the sidelines is like, all while being surrounded by love. Even if that love comes in a slightly rough cockney package. For KV - I love you. Thank you for understanding me to my very core. I hope you love this one.’ Screening as part of Rip It Up, a UK-wide film season supported by the National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network.
