About this event

Based on the original production of Bacchae directed by Indhu Rubasingham at the Olivier Theatre which premiered on 24th September 2025. National Theatre's Touring for Schools will return in Autumn 2026 with a tour of Bacchae, school's version, by Nima Taleghani , directed by Hannah Hauer-King . The Bacchae aren’t standing on the sidelines whilst the men have all the fun. These fangirls may be a pack, but they’re not animals... they are stage-storming powerhouses ready to cause chaos in Thebes. Whilst the Bacchae maraud in the mountains, their god Dionysos is taking part in his own dysfunctional family Olympics. He’s here to bring down his cousin King Pentheus. All to prove to the chorus of women that he’s more than just the god of rhyme, wine and a good time. This exciting new version of Euripides’ ultimate tragedy comes to life through rhythm, movement and music. B acchae will also play to public audiences on 19 and 20 November 2026 at Lowry, Salford ! The Mohn Westlake Foundation supports nationwide Learning programmes for young people.
