Autism, Adhd & The Inner Critic

About this event
Explore the inner critic in autistic and ADHD minds, and discover how self-compassion can transform self-talk, wellbeing, and resilience. Autistic and ADHD people are often told they are “too hard on themselves” or “overthink everything.” Beneath this can lie a persistent inner critic shaped by neurodivergence, lived experience and years of misunderstanding or masking. It can affect self-worth, contribute to burnout and make it harder to seek support. Join Dr Jo Mueller for a compassionate, evidence-based exploration of where this voice comes from, how it shapes everyday life and how self-compassion can help. You’ll gain a clearer understanding of your internal world and begin building a kinder relationship with yourself. Doors open at 7pm , talk starts at 7:30pm - come down early to grab a good seat! Dr Jo Mueller is a clinical psychologist specialising in neurodivergent-affirming practice. With over 17 years of experience, her work focuses on the emotional wellbeing of autistic and ADHD individuals and families. Alongside her clinical work, she collaborates with King’s College London on research and teaching aimed at improving support for neurodivergent people. She is a co-founder of The Neurodiversity Practice, where she hosts a community for neurodivergent parents, and delivers neuroinclusive training and consultancy. Drawing on both clinical practice and current research, Dr Mueller integrates compassion-focused and neuropsychological frameworks to help neurodivergent individuals better understand themselves and navigate the world in ways that feel more authentic and supportive.
