Written and directed by Chakib Taleb-Bendiab, Algiers marks a powerful debut feature, combining the urgency of a police thriller with a deeper reflection on memory, trauma and social fracture. Set against the charged atmosphere of the Algerian capital, the film offers a tense, emotionally layered portrait of a society still carrying the weight of history. Algiers represented Algeria at the Oscars for Best International Feature.
