We are delighted to announce that the judges of this year's ACF Translation Prize have selected the winners! The Austrian Cultural Forum 2026 Translation Prize attracted 22 entries from established literary translators in Category A, and 34 from aspiring translators in Category B. In Category A our winner is Rachel Farmer for her stylish translation of a passage from Birgit Birnbacher's Sie wollen uns erzählen . The runner-up in this category is Sharon Howe . The overall standard of the Category B entries - a translation of a passage from Sophie Reyer's Tod bei den Salzburger Festspielen - was highly impressive. The winner is Chiara Haefliger . The runner-up in this category is Sarah Escritt. Thank you to all the entrants in this year’s competition and congratulations to the winners and runners-up! The prizegiving ceremony will be on 29 October 2026, 7 pm, at the Austrian Cultural Forum London. Please join us for an evening full of translation, language and literature!
