About this event
Carol Hammond, the daughter of a prominent politician, is tormented by increasingly vivid dreams involving her glamorous, free-spirited neighbour Julia Durer. When Julia is found brutally murdered, the line between Carol's nightmares and reality begins to dissolve, drawing her into a labyrinth of murder, hallucination and psychological manipulation where nothing can be trusted. Directed by Lucio Fulci before his celebrated cycle of gore films, A Lizard in a Woman's Skin is one of the masterpieces of the Italian giallo. Combining surreal dream imagery, elaborate murder set pieces and psychedelic visual design, the film reflects the influence of the sexual revolution while pushing the boundaries of censorship with its graphic violence and eroticism. Featuring a mesmerising score by Ennio Morricone and standout performances from Florinda Bolkan, Stanley Baker and Anita Strindberg, it remains one of Fulci's most elegant and accomplished works.
