About this event
Way up in the deep blue night sky, a twinkling star hears a little girl’s birthday wish . . . she wishes she could dance with the stars. Wanting to make this wish come true, the little star tells the moon, the moon tells the sun, the sun tells the wind and the rain, and together they dream up a wonderful plan. The elements work together to find a magic seed, plant it in a secluded corner of the little girl’s garden, and they nurture the seeding until it becomes a magnificent tree reaching all the way to the stars. All this takes 100 years… which seems like a long time to a little girl, but to star, time is quick and light… like seeds in the wind. The little girl is an old woman now, but she remembers what it was like to be young and carefree, and she remembers too, a birthday wish long ago… This beautiful production combines whimsical themes of wishes, gift-giving and magic, with explorations of earthly weather elements and the solar system. Told through a magical mix of puppetry, original music, and story-telling that enchants young audiences and adults alike, A Ladder to the Stars is a heartfelt and humorous story of what can happen when the universe hears your dreams. For a young audience aged 3-6 and their families.
