www.slbi.org.uk/ →South London Botanical Institute (SLBI) is an independent botanical charity founded in 1910 by Allan Octavian Hume, housed in a Victorian villa on Norwood Road in Tulse Hill. It holds a library of over 2,000 botanical books and a herbarium of more than 100,000 dried plant, lichen, algae and fungi specimens, many stored in Hume's original cabinets. A small, volunteer-supported community learning space rather than a large national institution, SLBI runs a regular programme of talks, practical courses, workshops and plant-related walks — a destination for anyone curious about botany and biodiversity from the ground up rather than a formal museum visit.
